Matteo Randi is one of the only mosaic artists in the United States that teaches the ancient Ravenna technique. This 2000 year old method will give students the opportunity to create mosaics using the clay transfer method. Mr Randi will give specific instruction in the use of hammer and hardie, using  smalti glass, marble, and ceramic materials. This 6 week course is intended to improve your skills with the hammer and hardie as well as learn the process of of this ancient technique. Students will also learn how to see and understand Byzantine mosaics through recreating classic works piece by piece. This workshop will help participant gain a greater understanding of this ancient process, as well as mosaic tools and materials. Cost includes $50 materials fee.
