This weekend workshop will offer an overview of the proper use of the hammer and hardie. Instructions and demonstrations on how to cut materials quickly, in the desired dimensions and with minimal waste will be offered to participants. A hammer and hardie will be available to each participant to use for cutting a variety of materials; smalti, marble, stone, and ceramic tile. A demonstration on how to properly sharpen the hammer and hardie will also be included. This workshop is intended for all levels, from beginners to those who already may have experience and would like to improve on their cutting technique. Please note there is no materials fee for this workshop and all materials cut during the workshop will remain the property of The Chicago Mosaic School. Participants are welcome to bring their own hammers and materials if they wish.
