We are completely moved into our fantastic new space! We have a new session of Intro to Mosaic I classes starting Saturday mornings 5/19, Monday evenings 5/21, and Wednesday mornings 5/23. We also have LOTS of classes and workshops beginning in June including “Dalle de Verre Workshop with Sophie Drouin” 6/6- 6/10, and our Summer Mosaic Intensives begin June 9th. Come see why there is no place like CMS.

We are proud to announce our line-up of Visiting Artist Workshops for Spring 2012.

Maestro Verdiano Marzi returns to Chicago for “Modern Expression I” and “Modern Expression II: Connecting Elements“; Martin Cheek “Creating Character in Mosaic“, Carol Shelkin “Portraiture in Mosaic“, Sophie Drouin “Dalle de Verre“. Also coming later this Spring, Sue Giannotti and later this Summer, Elder Jones.

CMS will be hosting Lillian Sizemore’s lecture on The Lod Mosaic, December 12th, 7-8:30pm. This lecture will be coinciding with the touring of the Lod Mosaic at The Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago.

Exhibition Opening 11/11 at CMS Gallery

Please join us this Friday, November 11th, 6-9pm at CMS Gallery for the opening of 2 new exciting shows: Gallery 1: The Memorial Wall of Hope and Healing and Jim MacRoberts, Sculptures.

The Memorial Wall of Hope and Healing is sponsored by the Beacon House, Green Bay, WI. Inspired by the life of Lee Bock and guided by lead artist Margy Cottingham, this traveling public art exhibit of 48 mosaics speaks profoundly of people’s experience with cancer and other illnesses. The spirit in which this work was created gives a voice to those who have experienced healing through art.

Jim MacRoberts Sculptures are haunting and surreal works that combine wood carving and painting. These pieces capture moments in time and evoke themes of solitude, isolation, and hope.
